It's hard to believe that it's been a year since I have posted here. So much has changed in that time. 2016 was a difficult year for Spencer and I, but it also brought many blessings to us after much hard work. In around July, I really felt a calling to move. I was unhappy in Greensboro and knew it wasn't where we wanted to settle down. Spencer and I had been married for three years and were ready to settle into a home of our own. It didn't feel right trying to force it where we were. We wanted to try somewhere new and settled on the Topsail Island area.
It was a pretty quick process. We had vacationed there several times so it was a familiar destination. I went down for an interview in their local school district and got the job. Before I knew it, Spencer and I were living out of a camper with our two dogs near the beach. Some people thought we were crazy. Somehow, it always feels right taking risks like these with Spencer. I know that if we are together, we will figure it out someway. I can't explain how incredibly lucky I feel to have a husband who left his job he loved to try this new adventure with me. Since then, we have found a church and found a rental home on the island. Spencer's National Guard unit was moved to the Topsail area which helped him get into a position and unit he wanted. It has been amazing to live with a view of the ocean and to hear the waves crashing when I'm laying in bed. But the beach hasn't been the only thing that we have enjoyed.
One of the biggest blessings came in November when we met with a realtor after seeing a home that we thought we would never be able to afford. The home was sold before we had a chance to place an offer. But God had greater plans for us. Spencer has always wanted land and we were able to build this exact home on 3.5 acres of land that the builders gave us. This home has everything we wanted and we feel so lucky to be building it at only 22. Life is still crazy and we definitely do not feel like we are completely settled in all aspects but God has showed us that he has a plan for us and that he will reveal it in his time.
We move into our new home in less than a month. It's such an exciting time of our marriage. I'll be sure to do some posts in the coming weeks and months on the building process and decorating as well!
